~ AWARENESS ~
... knowledge and understanding that something is happening or exists!
~ WHO ~
Abortion Recovery Awareness Month (Abortion Recovery Month) is a community service event established in April of 2005, by
Abortion Recovery InterNational, Inc. and its Founder, Stacy Massey.
~ WHAT ~
ARAM is a collaborative effort of caring people, around the globe, encouraging and extending healing opportunities to those hurting after a reproductive loss, due to abortion. The month long community event inspires others to enlighten society by reaching out to individuals and families in their communities.
~ WHEN ~
April each year!
~ WHERE ~
Compassion begins at home and spreads from there! A couple led through recovery can reconcile their marriage. A mother who finally tells her daughter about the pain of her own pregnancy loss, may save the lives of her grandchildren. Suicide, drugs or alcohol need not be the answer to the emotional or psychological impact of abortion. A loving family, dedicated friends and community support ... those should be the answer. And that's where we start!
~ WHY ~
Because for some, abortion can impact everything!
Founder, Stacy Massey, quotes her reasoning for launching the month long event ...
"Because abortion impacts our marriages and our utmost intimate bonds with each other. It sneaks about in our families and with friends. It whispers in our church and murmurs in the body of Christ. It infects our society and infiltrates our schools. It attaches itself to the media and takes over our politics. It's not just a simple word that explains a medical procedure. It effects our community in ways that no other topic does."
She continues ... "And it goes even deeper than that. We as a society do not know how to respond. Individuals are not talking about the subject matter. Not because they don't want to, but because they do not know what to say or how to say it. Healing from a decision that leaves huge scars on our families and friends, our church and our communities IS possible!"
~ HOW ~
ARAM is secular-friendly. It is free of judgement, condemnation or negative connotations The goals are to encourage and extend healing opportunities and to enlighten society and our communities of the impact left for many individuals and families. We do that by working alongside each other to further the reach to those needing assistance.
